Chuck Mead and the Grassy Knoll Boys play Station Inn Dec. 30.

“It’s been a pretty mixed 2010,” writes Chuck Mead on his official website, chuckmead.com. Fair enough. The longtime BR549-er was one of many Nashville musicians whose home and instruments were breached by May floodwaters, and since Mead was on tour in Europe at the time, he also lost a hunk of time on the job as he rushed home to deal with damage. But then the Broadway musical Million Dollar Quartet — for which Mead acts as musical supervisor/arranger — earned three Tony Award nominations (and actor Levi Kreis took one home), which isn’t the worst bragging right.

So Mead closes out a year of ups and downs doing what he does: making music onstage. He plays a hometown show at the Station Inn on Thursday, Dec. 30 with his Grassy Knoll Boys, who’ve been helping him bring the songs on his debut solo album, 2009’s Journeyman’s Wager, to life.

The show starts at 9 p.m., and the Station Inn is located at 402 12th Ave. S. (255‑3307). Admission is $10.
