Don't know if this site is still up and running, however let me convey my admiration and appreciation for Chuck.
I am a musician and have been for many, many years. The talent this man posseses goes far beyond most singer/songwriter
musicians out there today. I was turned on to BR549 while they were on tour with Southern Culture on the Skids who is based out of North Carolina. They came to my hometown of Louisville Kentucky in 2003. It was the first time I had seen br549 and I have since bought all their releases. I am amazed by the songwriting and arrangements this band was capable of. The chemistry was a cool cocktail of creativeness
with any line up. I want to take nothing from those who joined BR549 after the demise of the original line up, or those who contributed and moved on to bigger and better things. I am a fan, regardless of the line up. However the songwriting remained stellar and solid. The songwriting was true and enthusiastic regardless. The common factor on each BR549 LP? Chuck Mead. I respect this man, his capabilities and his timeless contribution to the music industry. As part owner of the Louisville School of Rock, I go out of my way to teach, especially drums, to students.
The brush work on "Knoxville Girl" on the Live from Roberts disc is a tutorial for all learning drummers. Needless to say when the band parted ways I was sad. As a Kentucky gentleman I tip my hat to you and your family and the band BR549…….
