• Chuck Fights Illiteracy at the Bluebird

Chuck Mead will join Elizabeth Cook, Tim Carroll and Jeff Black at a benefit for the Tennessee State University Honors Program Literacy Benefit. The concert will take place on Wednesday, August 16th at 9pm. The program was established in 2003, and has placed 5000 books in the hands of lower-income, inner city children that they can have in their homes. One of the major factors in promoting early literacy is the availability of age-appropriate books in the home. The program also connects TSU honors program students with day care centers. The TSU students read to the children before giving them books, which provides the children with positive role models that value education. Tickets are $10, though additional donations will be graciously accepted.
