    Shows

    Well Friends and Neighbors

I hope everybody’s new year is good so far. Just a little update. I’m here in Las Vegas until February putting together another production of  ”Million Dollar Quartet” the Broadway musical in which I act as Music supervisor/arranger/director. We open at Harrah’s on the strip in Vegas on February 19th so if you happen to be there I suggest you catch this show. These guys and gals are fantastic!

I also want to let you know that there are a number of my own shows coming up starting in March. The 8th & 9th I’ll be joining Todd Snider’s Traveling What The Folk Show in New York and Alexandria, VA. Ms Elizabeth Cook and Kevin Gordon are on the shows too so it will be an all Nashville extravaganza!

My Grassy Knoll Boys and I will be doing SXSW this year again but this time, we’re going to hang around down in Texas and play a few dates. Check out all the show dates right here on chuckmead.com!

I hope to see you all soon.

    December

    Hey Friends and Neighbors

Well it’s been a while since we’ve talked. Don’t think I had forgotten to write – its just I’ve been pretty busy. I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and Black Friday didn’t wipe you out. This is a little note to catch you up on what’s up in CM world.

At the end of October the Grassy Knoll Boys and myself went on fantastic and successful tour out west with Miss Loretta Lynn. We’d like to thank Patsy and Peggy and Miss Loretta for treating us so well and the band for all the great pickin’ together during the trip.

Currently we are on a tour with our buddies Old Crow Medicine Show and the crowds have been incredible. If we’re in your area catch the show because the Old Crow boys are on top of their game and we’re trying to do our part to add to the excitement. Check out tour dates for more info.

A little while ago I was asked by the fine folks at Plowboy Records to record a Christmas song originally released by Mr. Eddy Arnold called “Will Santa Come To Shantyown?” The GKB and I were happy to do that classic holiday song with one of our heroes Cheetah Crome producing the track. It will be available as a digital single starting December 4th.Hit the link below for more info.

    http://www.cmtedge.com/2012/11/28/chuck-mead-seeks-santa-in-shanty-town/

Also, earlier this summer, we had a little BR5-49 reunion show that was very inspiring. During rehearsals we jumped across the street and recorded a Christmas song too. The first new BR recording in quite a while. It’s a Gary Bennett penned song called “Truckstop Christmas” and will be available on a compilation recording called “East Nashville Christmas.” The proceeds from the record go to the National Health Care for the Homeless Council. It’s a great cause and there are lots of great artists on the record so if you see it, pick it up and you’ll have some fine seasonal music and support a great cause.

That’s it for now. I hope everyone has a happy holiday season and here’s hoping to see all of you in 2013! Lets just get past this Mayan December 21st deadline…

    Peace, Love and Ernest Tubb

    September

    Hey Friends & Neighbors

We’re fresh back from the A Prairie Home Companion Cruise and all I can say is, “It was a trip of a lifetime.”  Thanks to the Prairie Home staff and especially Mr Garrison Keillor for inviting us along. We made some great friends and visited some of the the most fantatsic places in the world.

And now to September. Coming up this weekend we have some shows in the upper midwest and Ol’ Kentucky. On the 6th we return to the Arc in Ann Arbor, MI then on to the mighty Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland, OH. We end up the weekend at Cosmic Charlie’s in Lexington, KY. If you’re near any of these places, we’d love to see you.

This month, of course, is  the Americana Music Association’s Festival and Conference here in Nashville  the 12th through the 15thand the GKBs and I will be making our appearence at The Basement on Friday the 14th. I hope Grimey will be at the sound board!

On Wednesday the 19th we’re at the Legendary Station Inn here in Nashville. I’m inviting some friends down to play with us that night so anything can happen. But then again, Ann and Lynn always make sure of that.

That’s it for now kiddies. Hope to see y’all sometime somewhere this month!
